The insurance adjuster asked me to record a statement. Should I do that?

If an insurance adjuster asks you to take a recorded statement, the first question I would have is: Whose insurance adjuster is this? If it’s your own insurance adjuster from your insurance company, then you are required to cooperate and you are required to give a statement. Of course, we recommend hiring an experienced personal injury attorney prior to that statement so they can help guide you on what to say and how to say it. In the State of Florida, if you are involved in an accident and you get a request for a statement from someone else’s insurance company, because you don’t have any contract, there’s no privity with that insurance company. Technically, they cannot require you to give that statement.
