What are the common causes of bicycle-automobile collisions?

I would say the number one cause of a bicycle/automobile collision is that the automobile driver, the motorist, didn’t actually see the bicyclist or didn’t look both ways before they entered an intersection. Typically we tell bicyclists to be on high alert at all times. They do take up less space than a motorist, which is a wonderful thing, but also they’re not seen as readily from motorists, so they need to be a little bit extra cautious when driving on the roads.
