If I was hit by a commercial vehicle in a Florida car accident, is the employer of the other driver also responsible?

The way that the law works in Florida regarding vicarious liability or responsibility of the owner is very simple actually. The courts have determined that in Florida, a motor vehicle is considered a dangerous instrumentality. Anyone who owns a vehicle in Florida, and gives the keys to someone else, and allows them to drive, with their permission, and they cause an accident, the owner will also be responsible for any injuries or damage that they cause. In the case of a corporate defendant or a business defendant who gives the keys to one of their employees, they also will be responsible for any damage that that employee causes.
