Do I have to give a recorded statement to the insurance company in a Florida auto accident case?

In a Florida auto accident case when we get a request for a recorded statement, the very first question that we ask is, who is asking for that recorded statement? In Florida, you have a contract with your insurance company and as a result you have to cooperate. If they request a recorded statement then you are required to give them the recorded statement. However, if the insurance company requesting the statement is someone else’s insurance company, then you’re not required to cooperate with them as far as giving them a recorded statement. Sometimes they’ll ask for one, but that doesn’t mean you’re required to.
